Stroll back in time to discover the businesses and industry that once dotted the landscape of Oswego’s downtown and nearby areas when the Little White School Museum, the Oswegoland Heritage Association, and the Oswegoland Park District host a history walk for area residents 16 and older starting at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15.
During “Oswego History Walk-Business and Industry” heritage association board members Ted Clauser and Linda Heap Dean, along with museum assistant Shawna Sullivan will help participants trace the spaces and places that served the community and learn about the people behind them. From cigar factories to livery stables to farm implement and automobile dealers, Oswego’s downtown and nearby areas were home to a variety of businesses of the past. Participants may learn whether there is a business from yesteryear still thriving today.
Participants should be able to walk comfortably for about an hour and be prepared to be part of the conversation. The walk will be outdoors.
Advance registration at $5 aq person, is required and space is limited. To register, call the park district at 630-554-1010 or visit oswegolandparkdistrict.org/and reference program No. 20634.
The walk will begin at the Little White School Museum, 72 Polk St., Oswego. This is the same walk that was presented July 18.
