YORKVILLE - 23rd Judicial Circuit Judge Melissa Barnhart recently swore in 14 new Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) to advocate for children in Kendall County.

The advocates are now ready to represent the best interests of children involved in the court system. Before being sworn in, the new advocates went through a screening process and completed 40 hours of training.

These volunteers will help meet a critical need for advocates due to the increasing number of children needing to be served by CASA.

A new training session begins Feb. 17 for anyone who would like to be an advocate for a child who has been a victim of abuse or neglect. The application can be found at casakendallcounty.org.
