High school sports roundup for Friday, April 1: Yorkville softball rallies to win slugfest with Rosary

SOFTBALL

Yorkville 17, Rosary 11

Sara Ebner went 3 for 3 with a homer and three RBIs, Ellie Alvarez was 3 for 4 with a homer and two RBIs and Kaitlyn Roberts fell just short of hitting for the cycle and drove in two runs for the visiting Foxes (7-2) in a game that featured 27 hits and 28 runs.

Yorkville erased a 10-6 deficit with three runs in the fourth inning, four in the fifth and four in the sixth and Lauren Koster took over the pitching in the third inning and held Rosary to one run. Katlyn Schraeder also homered for the Foxes.

BASEBALL

La Salle-Peru 15, Sandwich 0

Mason Lynch and Joey Story combined on a no-hitter, Lynch striking out seven and Aidan Van Duzer homered for the Cavaliers. Taylor Adams struck out three for Sandwich.

Streator 13, Plano 3

Kaden Aguirre and Mason Accidentale both had doubles and Sean Earwood scored two runs for Plano (2-7). Streator broke open a tie game with five runs in the third and three in the fourth.
