LONG GROVE – On Nov. 3, 200 generous women came together and gave from their hearts to raise more than $70,000 in support of critical early education programs that will ensure the foundation for strong and successful academic futures for Lake County children.

The money was raised through Women United’s signature philanthropic event, Power of the Purse, which celebrates women, friendship and philanthropy. Attendees at the sold-out event enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon with brunch and bubbly, prizes and special surprises. There were more than 50 designer bags, plus silent auction items and raffle prizes.

“It was so inspiring to feel the energy and excitement throughout the event, as well as to see the demonstrated commitment to ensure we support early childhood programs in Lake County,” said Ann Johnston, 2024 Power of the Purse chair. “This annual event is so special as it brings together women with different experiences to support a common goal.”

100% of all event proceeds and items purchased supported local early learning and care programs in Lake County through Women United’s Little Kids, Big Futures fund. Since 2014, Women United has raised and granted more than $1.4 million to local nonprofits to ensure children in Lake County are prepared for kindergarten and ready to succeed.
