WAUKEGAN – The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association announced the availability of more than $58,000 in college scholarships for the 2025-26 academic year.
The scholarships are dedicated to supporting students pursuing higher education at certified institutions of learning within the state.
Scholarships may be applied toward tuition, books and fees only. Full-time enrollment at an Illinois-based college or university, including online programs, is required.
Lake County Sheriff John Idleburg will award one $500 scholarship.
Applicants must be permanent residents of Illinois.
Students must be enrolled full-time during the 2025-26 school year (excluding summer sessions). There are no restrictions based on race, age, creed, color, sex or national origin.
Applications are available at the Lake County Sheriff’s Office or online at https://www.ilsheriff.org/youth-2/
To apply, students must complete the scholarship application form, answer the required essay question and submit all required documentation.
Completed applications from Lake County residents must be submitted to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office by March 14 (postmarked by this date or delivered by this date). Residents living outside of Lake County should submit their application to their local sheriff’s office.
