WAUKEGAN – Waukegan Township and the Senior Services Committee will host the 19th annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dreamers’ Day from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 18.

The virtual event will be entirely online via Zoom.

This year’s event will honor front-line and essential workers during these unprecedented times of a global pandemic.

The theme of the event is “American Heroes in the Struggle Toward Justice, Health and Wholeness.”

King Jr., a civil rights activist, delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on Aug. 28, 1963. He called for civil and economic rights and an end to racism in the U.S.

Proceeds from the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dreamers’ Day event will support services offered to seniors at Waukegan Township Park Place.
