Mundelein launches campaign to support local businesses

‘Made for you, Mundelein’ to promote village products, services across platforms

MUNDELEIN – To encourage residents to support local businesses, Mundelein recently launched the “Made In Mundelein. Made For You.” campaign.

The multiplatform campaign showcases Mundelein as an original maker’s place, using the tagline, “Made for you, Mundelein” and the Spanish translation, “Hecho Para Ti, Mundelein.” The campaign consists of a website, social media, digital marketing, print, signage, and villagewide communications including e-newsletters, print newsletters and more.

Central to the campaign is encouraging neighbors and community members to support one another. The website reads: “So, when we talk about supporting local, we really mean that everything we do, and all you do, supports your neighbor, your friend and your community. It makes us better – together. Made in Mundelein. Made for you.”

“Throughout the country, businesses are hurting and in dire need of assistance. We knew we had to do whatever we could to help.” Mayor Steve Lentz said in a news release. “We launched the ‘Made In Mundelein’ campaign to assist our restaurants, retailers and other businesses. We intend this to be a catalyst that brings the community together and creates a sense of pride in the goods and services that are made here. The campaign goes beyond reminding people to shop local. It’s really a celebration of the hands and hearts that make Mundelein the unique community we have all grown to love.”

Whether working in metals or food, clothing or beverages, Mundelein business leaders and residents take pride in creativity, innovation, and quality. Mundelein is a place where residents can find tailored products, personalized services and customized experiences. From Armenian cuisine to sushi, a French bistro to Korean barbecue, Italian to tamales, residents and visitors can find global flavors in Mundelein.

“There are many entrepreneurs who have chosen to launch their dreams here and their hard work shows,” Economic Development Commission Chair Larry Gallas said in the release. “Mundelein strives to be very business focused, business friendly and entrepreneurial. The ‘Made In Mundelein’ campaign cultivates this spirit, and we are looking forward to showcasing many of the various businesses that help to make Mundelein a vibrant and welcoming community to live, work and shop. While the campaign reminds people to think and shop Mundelein first, it’s also a campaign that showcases everything that Mundelein has to offer.”

The “Made In Mundelein. Made For You.” campaign launched in November with a webpage and on social media. Photos from Rogan’s Shoes, Park Street Restaurant, Mouse in the House Interiors, Debbie’s Floral, Maya’s Restaurant, AREA Coffee, and Corner Health Foods are included in the campaign.

The campaign, developed and managed by a5 Branding & Digital, is working with Mundelein-based companies Lindsey Oaks Photography and KTR Media Group for photography and video, respectively.

“There is so much to uncover and discover in Mundelein, from Tighthead and Bosacki’s Breweries to Prime Beef to Karina’s Bakery,” said John Harris, principal of a5 Branding & Digital. “Since its founding, Mundelein has been a place where people specialize in what they do. It’s a place of craftspeople, of makers. This campaign ties into the village’s core promise of being welcoming and celebrates Mundelein’s entrepreneurial spirit within the business community. We’ve structured the campaign to facilitate a sense of community pride in all of the businesses that call Mundelein home.”
