Hawthorn Mall plans activities for children

VERNON HILLS – Hawthorn Mall in Vernon Hills invites children and their families to participate in a series of Saplings Kids Club events and activities throughout the summer.

The shopping center will host two events each month in June, July and August. Guests are asked to observe all state and local COVID-19 safety recommendations. Everyone 2 years and older is asked to wear a mask. To adhere to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, only one parent or guardian may accompany each child. COVID-19 safety recommendations are subject to change.

All attendees must be a Saplings Kids Club member.

June activities

• Beach-themed storytime and craft: The event will take place from 11 to 11:45 a.m. June 11 at Barbara’s Bookstore. Space is limited, and registration for each attendee (child and adult) is required. To register, visit http://ow.ly/diyf30rGNqr.

• AMC “Trolls World Tour” movie day: Put your hair up and rock out at a special showing of “Trolls World Tour” at AMC Theatres. Check-in for the event takes place at 11 a.m. June 25. The movie will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Popcorn and drinks will be available for purchase. Due to COVID-19 safety guidelines, only 50 people will be allowed in the theater. July activities

• Hi-Five Sports Zone Free Play: From noon to 1 p.m. July 10, Saplings Kids Club members can lace up their gym shoes for an hour of free play at Hi-Five Sports Zone. • Princess meet-and-greet at Yu Kids Island: Hawthorn Mall will host a meet-and-greet with the Beauty Princess at Yu Kids Island from 11 a.m. to noon July 27. During the event, children will take part in storytime, an interactive singalong, Q&A and have free-play time at Yu Kids Island. August activities

• Free play at Dave & Buster’s: Saplings Kids Club members can “get their game on” at Dave & Buster’s when they pick up a free-play game card between 3 and 4 p.m. Aug. 6 and play until their game card runs out or until closing (one game card per Saplings Kids Club member).
