GRAYSLAKE – The Blue Moon Gallery announced “Feeling Blue,” its third annual juried exhibition, opens Saturday, Feb. 26, with an artists reception from 6 to 9 p.m. “Feeling Blue” will be on view through March 13.
This year’s juried exhibition is about the power and restorative persuasion of the color blue. The art in this exhibition features the color blue and references the symbolic meaning and emotional vastness of blue, according to a news release.
In a call to artists, the gallery asked artists, “How do you feel blue?” More than 100 pieces of art created by more than 60 artists were submitted to the gallery’s guest juror for consideration for the show. Keith Hanz, this year’s guest juror, has been teaching photography, art and digital media at Mount San Jacinto College since 1998.
After the jurying process was complete, 36 pieces representing more than 20 mediums were selected.
Some of the mediums represented in the show include watercolor, gouache, oil, terracotta, wire, ink, photography, encaustic, linocuts and monoprints. Each piece of artwork is accompanied by an artist statement indicating the work’s connection to the show theme and the color blue.
Participating artists are Kristin Ashley, Kenny Bellinder, Susan Bennett, Marcia Biasiella, Tom Biegalski, Sean Bishop, Joan Bredendick, Rachel Catlett, Jennifer Evans, Frank Fitzgerald, Tim Flynn, Cynthia Fuller, Kathleen Gallo, Jeanne Garrett, Samira Gdisis, Kathleen Heitmann, Missy Isely-Poltrock, Laina Joy, Boruch Lev, Joan McCLane, Mary Neely, Kristen Neveu, Mary Norvell, Laura O’Connor, Clarese Ornstein, Tom Pedersen, Paul Pinzarrone, Regina Roland, Susan Schneider, Rebecca Stahr, Stephen Ursino, Catherine Uttich, Marilyn Weisberg, Sally Wille, Kelly Witte and Jeff Wozniak.
