Megan Martin named Grundy-Kendall Region of Education Superintendent

Megan Martin, the new interim Regional Superintendent for the Kendall Grundy Regional Office of Education, addresses the Grundy County Board.

Megan Martin will become the new interim Superintendent of the Grundy Kendall Regional Office of Education, replacing the retiring Chris Mehochko.

Martin has been the principal at the Premier Academy in Morris for the last few years.

Mehochko grew up in South Wilmington and he’s never lived outside Grundy and Kendall County, and he encourages Grundy and Kendall to continue working together.

“I had a recent conversation with Waubonsie Community College, where we’re working on some cool opportunities in the future for our kids, and we’ll include JUCO on some of those as well,” Mehochko said.

He said his kid currently travels to Kishawukee College north of DeKalb for the diesel mechanics program because Waubonsie doesn’t offer that program, and he thinks it’s a ripe opportunity for local community colleges and organizations to bring those kinds of programs to the Kendall-Grundy area.

Mehochko said he appreacites all the support, but now that he’s retired he will never go to a board meeting again, nor will he file a FOIA.

“I might listen to you every now and then on the video,” he said. “I do appreciate everything you do.”

Martin said she’s humbled and appreciated of the opportunity, and she’s excited to continue her work.

“I know i Ihave some big shoes to fill, but I’m thankful for the notewothy team that Superintendent Mehochko has filled and I’m grateful that I’ll be surrounded by wisdom and experience.”
