Rail crossings in Coal City closed Wednesday morning while police investigate pedestrian death

Every rail crossing in Coal City except the crossing at Carbon Hill Road closed Thursday while police investigated the death of a pedestrian struck by a train at around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

As of 8:30 a.m. Thursday, the crossings are all back open. The train hit the pedestrian at the crossing near Route 113 and North First Avenue.

More information on the crash will be published as it becomes available.
