The Morris boys basketball team used an 11-0 run at the end of the third quarter and into the fourth to grab the lead against Ottawa, then held on for a 42-38 Interstate 8 Conference victory at Kingman Gymnasium on Tuesday night.





Seneca Paxton Giertz, the reigning two-time Times Boys Basketball Player of the Year, has signed to play basketball and continue his education at Hillsdale College in Michigan. The Chargers are a NCAA Division II program and member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.




The second game of the When Sides Collide Shootout featured two of the state's, if not the nation's top sophomores in Bolingbrook's Davion Thompson and Warren's Jaxson Davis. But it was the supporting cast for Warren that lifted them to an 82-71 victory.


Morris and La Salle-Peru split an I-8 Conference girls/boys twin bill Friday, with the Cavaliers winning the boys contest and the hosts prevailing in the girls game.
