Morris Mayor appointed to National League of Cities' Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Committee

Chris Brown

Morris Mayor Chris Brown has been appointed to the National League of Cities' 2025 Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Federal Advocacy committee.

According to a Friday news release, Brown was elected to a one-year term and will provide direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on sustainability, climate change, community resilience, water infrastructure, solid waste management and more.

NLC President Steve Patterson announced the appointment.

“Being a member of this committee and also working with the other committees within the National League of Cities has been such a valuable resource for myself and the City of Morris,” Mayor Brown said. “It gives us the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the strongest leaders in the country.”

Brown will play a key role in shaping the NCL’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of American cities, towns and villages before Congress, with the administration and at home in Morris, according to the news release.

“NLC’s federal advocacy committees are vital for uplifting the voices and needs of America’s 19,000 cities, towns, and villages to decision-makers in Washington,” Patterson said. “I am excited to work with Mayor Brown and look forward to supporting their vision and leadership as they serve on the Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Committee this year and help grow the partnership between local and federal leaders.”

This year’s EENR is led by Chair Katrina Thompson of Broadview, Vice Chair Mila Besich of Superior, Ariz., and Vice Chair Abbie Kamin of Houston, Tex.
