The new Morris Hospital YMCA, 2200 Dupont Ave., Morris.

Morris Hospital and the Morris Hospital YMCA are partnering to offer a free nutrition seminar series open to the public, which begins at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21 at the YMCA, 2200 W. Dupont Ave.

The seminar will be led by registered dietitians from Morris Hospital, who will provide the knowledge and tools needed to make lasting, healthy changes in eating habits according to a Friday news release.

The first session is called “What is the Mediterranean Diet?”, and it’s about the diets in countries that boarder the Mediterranean Sea. It may help people become more heart healthy and protect against cancer. Participants will learn how to create tasty meals that incorporate fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, fish and healthy fats.

Addition topics include “Reducing Your Risk for Heart Disease through Your Diet” on Tuesday, Feb. 18 and “Learn How to Build Muscle or Gain Weight with Protein Intake” on Wednesday, March 26.

To register, call Morris Hospital’s Wellness Manager at 815-705-7358 or visit www.morrishospital.org/events and select the nutrition category.
