The Coalers Business Alliance is hosting its seventh annual Galentine’s Day shopping event from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Coal City, Diamond and Carbon Hill Wednesday, Feb. 5.
“When we started Galentine’s Day we were hopeful to encourage people to shop local during what is typically a slow time of year,” Chamber President & CEO Christina Van Yperen said. “Not only has it done just that, but it’s become a fun tradition for residents and visitors alike.”
The Coalers Business Alliance, a business group of the Grundy County Chamber of Commerce & Industry, hosts the event annually to encourage local spending, according to a Monday news release. Participating locations will offer Galentine’s–themed promotions and activities, and anyone wearing red or pink that day will receive a raffle ticket. The Coalers Business Alliance issued a special thank you to Midland States Bank for sponsoring the event this year in the news release.
Raffle tickets can be filled out and taken from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6 to the Coal City Public Library District at 85 N. Garfield St. There are also times from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Feb. 6 and 7 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8.
Winners will be chosen the following week and notified after.
“We are thrilled to be part of this year’s Galentine’s Day event,” said Justin Murphy, General Manager of Blue Oval Rentals. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to introduce ourselves to the community, connect with our neighbors, and promote the importance of shopping local. Events like this help strengthen the bonds within our community, and we’re excited to celebrate with everyone.”
