Our winter extracurricular programs are having a successful season. The Varsity Girls Wrestling team won the SPC tournament. The Boys Bowling Team were conference champions, regional champions, and qualified for the state tournament. The cheerleaders qualified for the state tournament. There are still many teams and individuals competing this season. We fully expect to have more state qualifying teams and individuals.
This winter, the MCHS Community Relations Department, led by Mrs. Aubrey Knight, launched the Alumni Feature social media campaign. This is a social media campaign to spotlight the amazing things that MCHS alumni are doing. The District solicited alumni who are willing to share their success stories. MCHS feels it’s important to share these stories to show our current students the amazing things that can be done with an MCHS diploma. If you are interested in sharing your story, feel free to contact Mrs. Knight at aknight@mchs.net.
The Minooka High School football program won the Illinois 8A National Football Foundation Academic Excellence Award. To be eligible for this award, a team must have a minimum cumulative team GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; superior academic application and performance; and a successful football season. The team GPA for the 2024 season was 3.4 on a 4.0 scale. We are very proud of this accomplishment.
This spring, MCHS will begin developing a new strategic plan. The District will be looking for input on the direction the district should take going forward. Students, staff, parents, and community members will have a couple different ways to participate in the development of the strategic plan. In March, a survey will be sent to stakeholders to get some feedback on the strengths and areas for improvement. On April 4-5, the District will hold a workshop to develop the strategic plan using the data from the survey and the feedback from the participants. Workshop participants will consist of students, staff, parents, community members, and school administrators. The strategic plan will set our goals for the next five years. Those interested in participating in the April workshop should contact Mrs. Aubrey Knight at aknight@mchs.net.
