Morris VFW to celebrate anniversary

Post 6049 entering 75th year on March 10

MORRIS – The Morris VFW Post 6049 will celebrate its 75th anniversary March 10.

The post was chartered nationally on March 10, 1946, and was named John Martin Steele Post 6049, to honor the first Grundy County service member killed in action in World War II. Steele’s picture, as well as the history of his military service, is displayed in the Post Club Room.

The anniversary celebration will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. March 10 in the Club Room. Snacks will be provided, as well as an anniversary cake to share with patrons. The public is invited to attend.
