Morris High School announces spectator guidelines

No more than 20% capacity allowed at outdoor events, max of 50 indoors

MORRIS – Morris Community High School athletic director Jeff Johnson released a letter Monday to parents, students and the school community regarding guidelines for attendance at spring sporting events.

The letter reads:

At this time, the current spectator guidelines for spring sports at MCHS are as follows:

Girls volleyball

• A maximum of 50 spectators will be allowed to attend all volleyball games. Only guests of athletes will be allowed to attend games. All games will be in the main gymnasium.

• Each home player will be allowed at least two spectators. Based on roster size, the number of vouchers per player may vary from game to game. Parents will be responsible for completing a Google Form by 10 a.m. the day of each game to reserve their seats. The Google Form will be emailed to parents from the athletic office.

• All athletes will be allowed one spectator voucher for all conference away games. Parents will be responsible for completing a Google Form by 10 a.m. the day of each game to reserve their seat at the away venue.

• All spectators will have their temperature checked once they arrive in the main gym lobby.

• Per Interstate 8 Conference policy, all sophomore and varsity contests will have an admission fee. Adults – $5, students – $3. No admission will be charged for freshmen games.

• Spectators will not be allowed in the gym until 20 minutes before the start of the game.

• Masks must be worn at all times. People not in the same household must be socially distanced from others.

• Home games will be livestreamed through YouTube. Subscribe to Morris Community High School Athletics at youtube.com.

• Food and drinks will not be allowed in the gym. No concessions will be available.

Boys soccer

• Spectators are allowed to attend home/away soccer games.

• All home games will be played on the turf at the MCHS stadium.

• No admission will be charged for soccer games.

• Masks must be worn at all times. People not in the same household must be socially distanced from others while sitting in the bleachers.

Varsity football

• Per IHSA and Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines, 20% of venue capacity will be allowed at all home and away football games. The number of ticket vouchers available at home and away games will vary based on stadium capacities.

• All participants at varsity-level football games will be given ticket vouchers that can be distributed to family members and guests. Participants include varsity football players, band members, varsity cheerleaders and the MCHS dance team.

• The number of ticket vouchers given to each participant will vary between two and four tickets per game. Ticket vouchers will be given to the head coaches on Wednesdays, and they are responsible for distributing the tickets to the participants.

• All spectators must have a ticket voucher in order to be admitted to all varsity home and away football games. No exceptions will be made.

• Per I-8 Conference policy, all varsity football games will have an admission fee. Adults – $5, students – $3.

• Ticket vouchers will not be required for freshmen and JV-level football games. Admission at these games will be free.

• Tickets gates will located in the front of the stadium and at the field house entrance (door No. 31). The back field house gate will not be open to spectators for admission.

• Masks must be worn at all times. People not in the same household must be socially distanced from others while sitting in the bleachers.
