Grundy County Fair draws big crowds

Food, fun and fireworks from July 30-July 4

MORRIS – The Grundy County Fair did not have a chance to entertain the public last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, however, people attending the event filled the Grundy County Fairgrounds every day from June 30 through July 4.

The weather cooperated and gave attendees ample opportunity to take in all the fair had to offer. From magic shows to petting zoos to a new carnival to numerous food trucks serving fair fare such as corn dogs, pizza, loaded fries and deep-fried desserts ranging from the traditional elephant ears and funnel cakes to fried Oreos and Twinkies.

The fair also included axe throwing and an escape room, plus the popular Banana Derby, which featured monkey jockeys riding well-trained dogs.

As always, the highlight of the weekend was the fireworks display on July 3, co-sponsored by Grundy Bank and the city of Morris.
