COAL CITY – The Grundy County Corn Festival begins Sept. 22, but area residents this year can get a jump on fall festivities.

The village of Coal City will hold a Fall Fest from 4 to 10 p.m. Sept. 18. Activities include a car show from 4 to 7 p.m. on S. Broadway St., starting at Campbell Park north to Oak Street; the Megan Bugg 5K Run, which begins at 6 p.m. at Babe’s Tap; and the Cadillac Groove band, which will perform from 6 to 10 p.m. in Advanced Auto’s parking lot on Broadway. Beer and Picture Me Smokin’ food truck will be available from 4 to 9 p.m., as well as food and refreshments from local establishments.

Entry fee for the car show will be a donation to the food pantry. Cars will be judged by retired Police Chief Tom Best, and prizes will awarded.
