La Grange receives OSLAD grant to fund Gilbert Park improvements

Attendees of the breakfast with Santa event held on Sunday Dec. 15, 2024, walk into the La Grange Park District Recreation Center.

The Park District of La Grange has been awarded a $600,000 Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to fund significant improvements at Gilbert Park.

The OSLAD grant will support planned improvements at Gilbert Park, which include the picnic shelter, playground, tennis courts, multipurpose court, pollinator garden and ping-pong table.

These enhancements are part of the park district’s ongoing commitment to creating vibrant, welcoming spaces that bring the community together, according to a recent press release. The grant funding will be combined with the resources secured through a recently passed referendum.

The park district will share updates on the project’s timeline and progress at pdlg.org and on social media in the coming months.
