Several events set for January, February at Glen Ellyn Park District

The Glen Ellyn Park District has announced its event schedule for late January into early February, including Grandparent and Me Winter Tea, Winter Family Fun in the Neighborhood and more.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service - 9 to 10:30 a.m. Jan. 20, at Ackerman Woods, 800 St. Charles Road: Honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by participating in a day of service. Start the morning with a warm cup of coffee or hot chocolate, then lend a helping hand to improve the quality of local natural areas by cutting and removing invasive brush. Gloves and tools will be provided. Volunteers under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration for this free event is required at gepark.org/register.

January Blood and Food Drive - 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 21, at Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center, 800 St. Charles Road: Give blood and donate nonperishable food items and toiletries to help fill the shelves at Glen House Food Pantry. Appointments are recommended for blood donations, but walk-ups are welcome. For more information, visit gepark.org/drives.

Hunt for the Hearts - 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 8, at Maryknoll Clubhouse, 845 Pershing Ave. Solve clues to find hidden hearts throughout the parks in this scavenger hunt across the park district. Prizes will be awarded to the first and second groups to complete the course. Participation is $10 for residents and $15 for nonresidents. This event is open to all ages. Winter Family Fun in the Neighborhood - 4 to 6 p.m. Feb. 25, at Spring Avenue Recreation Center, 185 Spring Ave. Enjoy an evening of free, family-friendly activities and entertainment, including interactive games, arts, crafts, face painting and more at this all-ages event.

Summer Job Fair - 2 to 6 p.m. Feb. 28, at Main Street Recreation Center, 501 Hill Ave. The Glen Ellyn Park District will seek to find applicants for positions available in the summer season. Applicants ranging from high schoolers aged 15 years and older to senior adults can explore the district’s various departments, learn about open summer positions and interview with hiring managers. Available jobs include camp counselor, lifeguard, admissions staff, parks maintenance and more. No registration is required for this free event.
