District 58 seeking applicants for board of education vacancy

Downers Grove Grade School District 58 is seeking applicants to fill the vacancy in its board of education following the resignation of Gregory Harris, whose term is set to expire in April 2025. The applicant would fill this vacancy from March through April.

Downers Grove Grade School District 58 is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on its board of education following the resignation of Gregory Harris, whose term is set to expire in April 2025. The applicant would fill this vacancy from March through April.

Residents interested in being appointed to fill Harris’ unexpired term should fill out a Board of Education member application by 4 p.m. Feb. 6. Paper applications are also available at the District 58 office on the second floor of the Downers Grove Civic Center, 850 Curtiss Street, Suite 200.

The appointee is ineligible to run in the April 2025 election unless he or she already filed paperwork to be a candidate with the county clerk in Nov. 24 and is already on the ballot or meets the requirements to be a write-in candidate.

Selected applicants will be interviewed on the evening of Feb. 24. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age; be a citizen of the United States and a registered voter; be a resident of the state of Illinois and Downers Grove Grade School District 58 for at least one year preceding appointment; be neither a school trustee nor a school treasurer; must not have been removed from a school board according to the school code and must not be a child sex offender as defined in state law.
