Whether you call it two-for-one shopping or beautifying the interior and exterior, Salon Hype has launched a new med spa service.
Salon Hype, with locations in La Grange and Burr Ridge, is offering med spa service from Victoria Senyk of Aesthetics Temple โ vitamins and botox, for example - to enhance its menu of beauty services.
Carissa Porter, 47, of Western Springs, who founded Salon Hype in 2005, is excited to offer med spa services to her customers. She has 400 to 600 weekly.
โ(Senyk) wants to be down here. Wants to come into this market. Sheโs like myself, a single mom. Together, letโs hit it hard. Letโs work. We have to find ways to find new clientele to stay fresh, to stay new to stay relevant,โ Porter said.
Senyk is at the La Grange salon on Wednesdays. She also offers injections one day a month at the Burr Ridge location โif someone doesnโt want to come here,โ Porter said.
โShe does the injections and all the aftercare,โ Porter said of Senyk. โShe has the medical license. I donโt. We have the space available.โ
Itโs a match made in retail heaven, as both mentioned in separate interviews.
โIf theyโre getting five services done in this building โ nails, waxing, skin care, color, haircut and one of their techs, theyโre most likely to stay here,โ Porter said.
โHealth and wellness is more than just beauty. Itโs more than what my hair looks like. Itโs also feeling good ... And having access to these cutting-edge treatments right here in La Grange,โ Porter said.
The addition of med spa services from Aesthetic Temple, Porter said, โis designed to offer our clients a one-stop sanctuary for rejuvenation, with treatments that respect the skin and bodyโs natural balance.โ
Senyk, 36, of Harwood Heights, said she and Porter have much in common, as each is a divorced mother who owns her own businesses.
In our post-COVID-19 world, people know their time is precious, Senyk said. Thatโs another reason for the pairing.
โWhen they have time to spend here, we wanted to provide them a one-stop shop and to give them a quality of care thatโs based on their individual needs,โ Senyk said.
Focusing on the wellness aspect, she offers injectable vitamins โwhich are different than any vitamin you take orally,โ Senyk said.
โTheyโre in an active form so your body doesnโt have to go through that transformation,โ she said, meaning the injected vitamins take effect faster and more thoroughly.
โYou can see a change in their skin and in their hair. Weโre seeing after-COVID people with hair loss, things we havenโt seen before. They need an extra boost go get back to being healthy,โ Senyk said.
An adult geriatric nurse practitioner, she works with people who are aging.
Pricing starts at $30 for injections.
โI suggest at least monthly if not bi-monthly, then we can look at supplements to take home with them,โ Senyk said.
โYou can go on Amazon and order anything, but you donโt know where itโs being sourced. We like to use products made in America, that is medical grade and clinically tested to be clean and helpful,โ she said.
She wanted to expand her business from Northbrook to the western suburbs, so working through Salon Hype has helped with that.
Senyk and Porter both get injections.
โI donโt think itโs ethical to sell something I donโt believe in. ... Iโm treating you because youโre getting results,โ Senyk said.
โAs women, we need to get into the mindset of empowering one another instead of competing. We want to be in a positive environment,โ Senyk added.
Porter agreed, adding Itโs all about โaffordable luxuryโ for their customers.
