Pedestrian fatally struck by Metra train in Downers Grove

A pedestrian was struck and killed Monday afternoon by a Metra train in Downers Grove, authorities said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident took place about 4:30 p.m. on the eastbound BNSF tracks about four blocks west of the Forest Avenue crossing, Downers Grove police said.

The incident halted trains in both directions at the Main Street station in Downers Grove.
