The DuPage County Health Department on Saturday reported 552 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 6 deaths: 1 man in his 70s, 1 woman in her 80s, 1 man in his 80s, 2 women in their 90s and 1 man in his 90s.
The county now has seen a total of 55,532 coronavirus cases including 875 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of Dec. 15 was 97.4%.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen six consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate decreased slightly to 10.6%. Currently, 15.3% of medical/surgical beds are available and 20% of ICU beds.
The region has six consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and four days under the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.
The Kane/DuPage region has a rolling, seven-day average of 516 COVID-19 patients in the hospital. Hospitalizations have decreased nine out of the past 10 days in this region.
Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 11.4%, and DuPage County is at 10.2%.
Finally, within the DuPage/Kane region, there are 65 available, staffed ICU beds out of 324 total.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 7,562 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 108 additional deaths Saturday.
By town, Wheaton has had 2,949 total cases, Glen Ellyn 2,067, Lombard 2,858, Villa Park 1,695, Hinsdale 822, Westmont 1,358, Darien 1,095, Woodridge 1,729, Downers Grove 2,447, Elmhurst 2,794, Warrenville 883 and Winfield 743. Addison has had 3,528 confirmed cases, Naperville 4,708, Carol Stream 3,005 and West Chicago 3,117.
