The DuPage County Health Department on Tuesday reported 222 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 4 deaths: 1 man in his 70s, 1 woman in her 80s, 1 man in his 80s and 1 woman in her 90s.
It was nearly a 100-case drop from the previous two days in the number of new infections reported, and less than half of the case numbers reported on Dec. 19.
The county now has seen a total of 56,397 coronavirus cases including 889 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of Dec. 15 was 97.4%.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen nine consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate stayed the same at 10.8%. Currently, 22.5% of medical/surgical beds are available and 25.4% of ICU beds.
The region has nine consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and one day over the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.
Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 12.6%, and DuPage County is at 9.9%.
Finally, within the DuPage/Kane region, there are 93 available, staffed ICU beds out of 324 total and 356 ventilators available out of 572.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 6,239 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 116 additional deaths on Tuesday.
The seven-day rolling average of Illinois’ positivity rate is 7.4%.
By town, Wheaton has had 2,984 total cases, Glen Ellyn 2,112, Lombard 2,916, Villa Park 1,754, Hinsdale 837, Westmont 1,381, Darien 1,108, Woodridge 1,755, Downers Grove 2,493, Elmhurst 2,852, Warrenville 903 and Winfield 724. Addison has had 3,586 confirmed cases, Naperville 4,785, Carol Stream 3,057 and West Chicago 3,158.
