The DuPage County Health Department on Thursday reported 413 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 8 deaths: 1 man in his 50s, 1 man in his 60s, 1 woman in her 70s, 1 man in his 80s, 3 women in their 90s and 1 man in his 100s.
It was the highest single-day case total since Dec. 19.
The county now has seen a total of 57,065 coronavirus cases including 903 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of Dec. 22 was 97.7%.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 11 consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 9.6%. Currently, 17.8% of medical/surgical beds are available and 23.9% of ICU beds.
The region has 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and one day under the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.
Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 10.9%, and DuPage County is at 9%.
Finally, within the DuPage/Kane region, there are 73 available, staffed ICU beds out of 324 total, and 353 ventilators available out of 572.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 7,037 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 96 additional deaths Thursday.
The seven-day rolling average of Illinois’ positivity rate decreased from 7.5% to 7.2%.
By town, Wheaton has had 3,039 total cases, Glen Ellyn 2,147, Lombard 2,943, Villa Park 1,776, Hinsdale 855, Westmont 1,402, Darien 1,122, Woodridge 1,773, Downers Grove 2,534, Elmhurst 2,915, Warrenville 914 and Winfield 734. Addison has had 3,640 confirmed cases, Naperville 4,859, Carol Stream 3,104 and West Chicago 3,194.
