The DuPage County Health Department on Wednesday reported 297 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 7 deaths: 1 woman in her 30s, 1 woman in her 50s, 1 woman in her 60s, 1 woman in her 70s, 1 man in his 70s and 2 women in their 90s.
The county now has seen a total of 64,268 coronavirus cases including 1,034 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of January 5 was 98.0%.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 11 consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 10.3%. Currently, 23.2% of medical/surgical beds are available and 25.3% of ICU beds.
The region has 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and three consecutive days over the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.
Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 12.2%, and DuPage County is at 9.4%.
Hospitalizations have decreased nine out of the past 10 days in this region.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 5,862 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19, and 97 additional death. The seven-day rolling average of Illinois’ positivity rate decreased from 7.5% to 7.3%.
By town, Wheaton has had 3,411 total cases, Glen Ellyn 2,407, Lombard 3,320, Villa Park 1,983, Hinsdale 1,002, Westmont 1,612, Darien 1,313, Woodridge 2,018, Downers Grove 2,997, Elmhurst 3,313, Warrenville 1,023 and Winfield 823. Addison has had 3,995 confirmed cases, Naperville 5,408, Carol Stream 3,490 and West Chicago 3,549.
