The DuPage County Health Department on Saturday reported 266 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 4 deaths: 1 woman in her 50s, 1 man in his 60s, 1 woman in her 70s and 1 man in his 80s. It was a sharp decrease from the 438 new cases reported Friday.
The county now has seen a total of 65,248 coronavirus cases including 1,052 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of Jan. 12 was 98.0%.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 11 consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 9.4%. Currently, 15.5% of medical/surgical beds are available and 24.7% of ICU beds.
The region has 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and three consecutive days under the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.
Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 10.5%, and DuPage County is at 8.8%.
Hospitalizations have decreased eight out of the past 10 days in this region.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 5,343 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 130 additional deaths Saturday, and a total of 471,157 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered. A total of 41,030 vaccines have been administered in DuPage County, with 11,587 people fully vaccinated, or 1.25% of the population.
By town, Wheaton has had 3,486 total cases, Glen Ellyn 2,460, Lombard 3,399, Villa Park 2,032, Hinsdale 1,031, Westmont 1,654, Darien 1,331, Woodridge 2,057, Downers Grove 3,069, Elmhurst 3,372, Warrenville 1,045 and Winfield 836. Addison has had 4,055 confirmed cases, Naperville 5,522, Carol Stream 3,561 and West Chicago 3,606.
