The DuPage County Health Department on Tuesday reported 338 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 3 deaths: 1 man in his 60s, 1 woman in her 70s and 1 man in his 80s. It is an increase in single-day cases over the last three days.
The county now has seen a total of 65,968 coronavirus cases including 1,062 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of Jan. 12 was 98.0%.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen zero days under 8%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 8.2%. The region’s positivity rate needs to be under 8% for three consecutive days before it moves to Tier 2 of the state’s resurgence mitigations.
Currently, 34% of ICU beds are available. The region has 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.
Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 9.0%, and DuPage County is at 7.8%.
Hospitalizations have decreased six out of the past 10 days in this region.
DuPage County has administered 43,935 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 11,914 people have been fully vaccinated, or 1.28% of the DuPage County population. It is the second-highest percentage in the state.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 4,318 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 33 additional deaths Tuesday, and a total of 508,732 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.
The seven-day rolling average of Illinois’ positivity rate decreased from 5.9% to 5.7%.
By town, Wheaton has had 3,521 total cases, Glen Ellyn 2,495, Lombard 3,439, Villa Park 2,052, Hinsdale 1,048, Westmont 1,665, Darien 1,354, Woodridge 2,073, Downers Grove 3,113, Elmhurst 3,404, Warrenville 1,055 and Winfield 844. Addison has had 4,096 confirmed cases, Naperville 5,574, Carol Stream 3,589 and West Chicago 3,641.
