DuPage County reports 121 COVID-19 cases Monday, 3 deaths, 2.74% of population fully vaccinated

The DuPage County Health Department on Monday reported 121 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 3 deaths: 1 woman in her 60s, 1 man in his 80s and 1 woman in her 100s.

The county now has seen a total of 69,732 coronavirus cases including 1,135 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of Jan. 26 was 98.1%.

DuPage County has administered 96,469 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 25,411 residents, or 2.74% of the population, have been fully vaccinated.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,747 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 35 additional deaths Monday, and a total of 1,358,967 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.

This is the first day with fewer than 2,000 new COVID-19 cases in Illinois since Oct. 6.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen seven consecutive days at or under 6.5%. The region’s positivity rate increased to 5.2%. Currently, 28% of ICU beds are available.

The region has 57 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 6.1% and DuPage County is at 4.8%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable for 10 out of the last 10 days in this region.

By town, Wheaton has had 3,731 total cases, Glen Ellyn 2,657, Lombard 3,637, Villa Park 2,189, Hinsdale 1,132, Westmont 1,757, Darien 1,443, Woodridge 2,168, Downers Grove 3,312, Elmhurst 3,582, Warrenville 1,098 and Winfield 902. Addison has had 4,259 confirmed cases, Naperville 5,942, Carol Stream 3,743 and West Chicago 3,829.
