DuPage County reports 253 COVID-19 cases Wednesday, 1 death, 15.61% of population fully vaccinated

The DuPage County Health Department on Wednesday reported 253 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 1 death, a woman in her 70s.

The county now has seen a total of 80,524 coronavirus cases including 1,285 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of March 16 was 98.3%.

DuPage County has administered 393,459 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 144,920 people, or 15.61% of the population, have been fully vaccinated.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 63 consecutive days below 8%. The region’s positivity rate stayed flat at 4.2%. Currently, 29% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average stayed flat at 3.8% and DuPage County stayed flat at 4.4%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable for eight out of the past 10 days in this region.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,793 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 20 additional deaths Wednesday, and a total of 5,036,364 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.

By town, Wheaton has had 4,272 total cases, Glen Ellyn 3,022, Lombard 4,100, Villa Park 2,451, Hinsdale 1,386, Westmont 2,029, Darien 1,720, Woodridge 2,557, Downers Grove 4,173, Elmhurst 4,196, Warrenville 1,248 and Winfield 1,054. Addison has had 4,688 confirmed cases, Naperville 7,494, Carol Stream 4,277 and West Chicago 4,225.
