DuPage County reports 170 COVID-19 cases Monday, 1 death, 17.31% of population fully vaccinated

The DuPage County Health Department on Monday reported 170 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 1 death, a woman in her 90s.

The county now has seen a total of 81,467 coronavirus cases including 1,292 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of March 16 was 98.3%.

DuPage County has administered 440,278 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 160,724 people, or 17.31% of the population, have been fully vaccinated.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 68 consecutive days below 8%. The region’s positivity rate decreased slightly to 5.0%. Currently, 31% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average increased to 4.6% and DuPage County’s decreased slightly to 5.2%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable for six out of the past 10 days in this region.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,761 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and five additional deaths Monday, and a total of 5,577,614 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.

The seven-day rolling average of Illinois’ positivity rate increased from 3.2% to 3.3%.

By town, Wheaton has had 4,341 total cases, Glen Ellyn 3,067, Lombard 4,159, Villa Park 2,469, Hinsdale 1,411, Westmont 2,056, Darien 1,741, Woodridge 2,596, Downers Grove 4,221, Elmhurst 4,246, Warrenville 1,263 and Winfield 1,075. Addison has had 4,734 confirmed cases, Naperville 7,599, Carol Stream 4,307 and West Chicago 4,253.
