DuPage County reports 276 COVID-19 cases Thursday, no deaths, region’s positivity rises to 7.1%

The DuPage County Health Department on Thursday reported 276 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with no deaths.

The county now has seen a total of 83,875 coronavirus cases including 1,302 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of March 30 was 98.3%.

DuPage County has administered 536,952 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 197,450 people, or 21.26% of the population, have been fully vaccinated.

The Illinois Department of Public Health announced Thursday the state set a single-day record of 154,201 COVID-19 vaccine doses administered Wednesday.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 78 consecutive days below 8%. The region’s positivity rate increased to 7.1%. Currently, 33% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average increased to 7.8% and DuPage County’s increased to 6.7%.

Hospitalizations have increased nine out of the past 10 days in this region.

The IDPH also reported 3,739 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 34 additional deaths Thursday, and a total of 6,707,183 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.

By town, Wheaton has had 4,504 total cases, Glen Ellyn 3,178, Lombard 4,326, Villa Park 2,516, Hinsdale 1,449, Westmont 2,108, Darien 1,793, Woodridge 2,108, Downers Grove 4,350, Elmhurst 4,387, Warrenville 1,307 and Winfield 1,093. Addison has had 4,816 confirmed cases, Naperville 7,876, Carol Stream 4,417 and West Chicago 4,331.

The health department provides further information on its data dashboard for COVID-19-related hospitalizations, deaths, lab positivity and outbreak-associated counts by municipality. This additional information replaces the information that was previously provided daily in this format.
