DuPage County reports 304 COVID-19 cases Saturday, 1 death, region’s positivity rate rises to 7.4%

The DuPage County Health Department on Saturday reported 304 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 1 death, a woman in her 70s.

The county now has seen a total of 84,507 coronavirus cases including 1,303 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of March 30 was 98.3%.

DuPage County has administered 567,062 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 216,142 people, or 23.28% people, have been fully vaccinated.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 80 consecutive days below 8%. The region’s positivity rate increased to 7.4%. Currently, 29% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average increased to 8% and DuPage County’s increased to 7.1%.

Hospitalizations increased nine out of the past 10 days in this region.

The Illinois Department of Public Health set a new record, for the third straight day, for vaccine doses administered in a single day with 175,681 provided Friday.

The IDPH also reported reported 3,630 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 13 additional deaths Saturday, and a total of 7,047,326 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.

By town, Wheaton has had 4,555 total cases, Glen Ellyn 3,209, Lombard 4,349, Villa Park 2,529, Hinsdale 1,461, Westmont 2,124, Darien 1,800, Woodridge 2,725, Downers Grove 4,389, Elmhurst 4,426, Warrenville 1,316 and Winfield 1,097. Addison has had 4,833 confirmed cases, Naperville 7,956, Carol Stream 4,438 and West Chicago 4,367.
