High school sports roundup for Tuesday, March 9: Lauren Huber breaks Glenbard East career scoring record

Glenbard East senior Lauren Huber reached 1,000 career points on Thursday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Glenbard East 59, West Chicago 35

Lauren Huber scored 26 points and in the process became Glenbard East’s all-time leading scorer, as the Rams advanced to the semifinals of the Upstate Eight Conference Tournament.

Huber, now with 1,248 career points, broke Katie Mielke’s program record set in 2004.

Downers Grove North 44, Lyons 41

Kate Gross hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer as the Lady Trojans snapped Lyons’ nine-game winning streak.

Wheaton North 58, Glenbard North 33

Claire Hyde scored 21 points and Ellie Hubbard added 18 for the Falcons, who remained tied atop the DuKane Conference with St. Charles North.

Willowbrook 67, Hinsdale Central 48

Gracie Tumilty scored 14 points, Taris Thornton 12 points, Sophie Sullivan 11 and Stephanie Dasbach 10 for the Warriors. Eleanor Monyek scored 17 points and Lanie Randle 11 for Hinsdale Central.

Wheaton Warrenville South 57, Batavia 48

Lily Huntzinger scored 21 points with six rebounds and four steals and Emma Showman added 14 for the Tigers. Mia McCoyd chipped in six points and nine rebounds.

York 45, Glenbard West 35

Mariann Blass scored 13 poins and Sydney Molis added 12 for the Dukes. Kennedy Brandt scored 14 points for Glenbard West.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Benet 62, Marist 33

The Redwings won going away as Benet coach Gene Heidkamp won his 300th game at Benet.

Hinsdale Central 73, Willowbrook 54

Jake Quast scored 20 points and Charlie Cessa and Quinn Cain added 13 apiece for the Red Devils. Marquel Saleek scored a game-high 23 points for the Warriors.

Timothy Christian 56, St. Francis 38

Josh Harris scored 18 points with six rebounds and six assists and Ben VanderWal added 16 points, eight rebounds and three assists for the Trojans (12-2). Sebastian Miller led St. Francis with 15 points.

Glenbard West 58, York 39

Braden Huff scored 20 points and Paxton Warden added 14 for the Hilltoppers. Drew Kircher scored 16 points to pace the Dukes.

IC Catholic Prep 60, Harvest Christian 50

Johnny Falduto scored 13 points and John Hilgart added 10 for the Knights.
