Riverside police investigating attempted garage burglary

Riverside Police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the offender in an attempted garage burglary from a house in the 300 block of Fairbank Road.

On Feb. 3, at about 4 a.m., police received a call from a resident reporting an attempted garage burglary. He said that he received a Ring notification at 1:53 a.m. of a subject attempting to enter his garage.The offender was unsuccessful at the garage burglary attempt, police said.

Responding officers checked the area for the offender but were unable to locate anyone. They collected DNA evidence from structures on the property where the attempt garage burglary occurred.

Police are asking anyone that may have additional video of the incident or have had this same type of incident at their home to send that to crimetips@riverside.il.us.

The offender is described as a male wearing a black and gray jacket, black hood, tight black and/or maroon pants, black shoes, black socks and a white face mask. He was wearing a black glove on his left hand and it appeared his right hand was bare. At the time of the incident he was riding a yellow and/or orange bicycle with silver handlebars, police said.
