The Wheaton Public Library will hold it gingerbread house contest from Dec. 17 to 19 in the library’s Arts & Culture Center on the main floor.
No registration is required to enter the contest, but participants must drop off their gingerbread house between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Dec. 16 or before 1 p.m. Dec. 17.
Voting will begin at 1 p.m. Dec. 17 and end at 5 p.m. Dec. 19. The public is invited to vote for their favorite houses in three age groups (youth, teen and adult). Winners will be announced Dec. 20, a news release stated.
After voting, the public can participate in several hands-on activities, including a gingerbread scavenger hunt, craft and photo station. The gingerbread scavenger hunt will run for all of December, and completed scavenger hunts will be entered into a prize drawing.
The gingerbread fun doesn’t stop there. During the week leading up to the contest, the library also will host gingerbread-themed story times. The story times will take place at 10 and 11 a.m. and 15. Registration is required at wheatonlibrary.org/calendar.
The library notes that the contest will be back in the Arts & Culture Center after having to move online last year. For information about the contest and gingerbread-themed events, visit wheatonlibrary.org/gingerbread or call 630-668-1374.
