The Marquette Academy seventh grade girls basketball team suffered just its second loss of the season, a 32-24 decision to Sigel St. Michael’s in the championship game of the IESA Class 7-1A State Tournament at downstate Assumption on Thursday night. MA (21-2) trailed 11-2 after one quarter, but closed to within four points heading into the final period. Anna Hjerpe led the Knights with 10 points, while Hunter Hopkins and Kinley Rick each added five points and Kelsey Cuchra four in the loss. The Marquette Academy seventh grade girls basketball team suffered only its second loss of the season, a 32-24 decision to Sigel St. Michael’s in the championship game of the IESA Class 7-1A State Tournament at Central A&M Middle School on Thursday night in Assumption.

Marquette (21-2) trailed 11-2 after one quarter but closed to within four points heading into the final period.

Anna Hjerpe led the Knights with 10 points, while Hunter Hopkins and Kinley Rick each added five points and Kelsey Cuchra four in the loss.
