Man held at La Salle County Jail on $1 million bond

An Atlanta, Georgia man is being held at the La Salle County Jail on $1 million bond after police said cocaine and ecstasy was found in his vehicle Friday following a DUI arrest.

Brian D. Mathis, 30, was arrested at 10:28 p.m. Friday on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, along with citations of DUI of alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, disobeying a traffic control device and driving without headlights.

Ottawa police said eight grams of purported cocaine and 192 tablets of purported methylenedioxy-methamphetamine, known as ecstasy, was found in the Mathis’ vehicle.

Mathis was stopped after police observed him traveling without headlights and making an illegal U-turn in the 100 block of East Norris Drive, said Ottawa Police Capt. Mike Cheatham.

Mathis needs 10% of the $1 million for release.
