St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School honors 14 graduates from Streator campus

Fourteen eighth-graders graduated from St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School in Streator on May 22.

Graduates participated in a Mass before their commencement ceremony. Monsignor Philip Halfacre, pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Church, celebrated the Mass, with Father Ryan Mattingly con-celebrating.

Graduates proceeded into church to “Pomp and Circumstance.” The Mass began with the Processional song “Mass of the Resurrection.” The First Reading was presented by Kimberly Perez, and Prayers of the Faithful were read by Madelyn Wahl.

St. Michael principal Emily Blumenshine announced the Class of 2021 and Halfacre conferred diplomas to Tessa Armstrong, Allison Chalkey, Jandel Gonzalez, Melanie Moreno, David Paton, Kimberly Perez, Breanna Perrotta, Cian Reed, Alyssa Salisbury, Samuel Schmitz, Parker Sirianni, Landon Sterling, Andrew Vogel and Madelyn Wahl.

On May 21, the school honored graduates during an award ceremony, presenting the following achievements:

  • Landon Sterling was named the valedictorian for the Class of 2021. He also received the Honor Award, Science Award, Math Award and Spanish Award.

  • Allison Chalkey: Honor Award, Altar Server Award and Band Award
  • Jandel Gonzalez: Altar Server Award and HistoryAward
  • Melanie Moreno: Honor Award and Art Award
  • David Paton: Altar Server Award
  • Kimberly Perez: Honor Award, Altar Server Award, Math Award, ELA Award and Spanish Award
  • Breanna Perrotta: Altar Server Award
  • Cian Reed: Good Attitude Award
  • Alyssa Salisbury: Altar Server Award
  • Samuel Schmitz: STEM Award
  • Parker Sirianni: Merit Award
  • Andrew Vogel: Honor Award, Altar Server Award, Drama Award and Band Award
