Radium Dial girls remembered on 10th anniversary of Ottawa statue

Thursday was the 10th anniversary of the unveiling of the Radium Dial Girl Statue Plaza at the corner of Jefferson and Clinton streets in Ottawa.

The plaza recognizes the local women of the Radium Dial Company who fell sick and died.

The statue plaza came to fruition when a local 8th grade student, Madeline Piller, learned what had happened in her hometown and successfully lobbied elected officials to erect a memorial.

A public memorial was held Thursday in front of the statue.
