Maria’s Café Bistro in Ottawa hits the ground running since opening

Restaurant has built daily regulars

“I take care of the customer as best as I can and the food does the rest.”

Even though Maria’s Café Bistro opened in October in Ottawa, Sarah and Enrique Cabrera’s restaurant already has daily regulars for coffee and their morning paper.

“I have so many people that come in just because they know me and love me, but it’s not just about me,” said Sarah, who is a first-time restaurant owner. “It’s about the food. I take care of the customer as best as I can and the food does the rest.”

Sarah recommends first time diners try the crepes, frittatas and breakfast burritos, but she also said to keep track of specials. The Cabreras try something different every few days, like gyros and prime rib.

Sarah said she worked at the Brite Spot on Norris Drive before taking the leap and opening her own business at 406 W. Main St. with her husband, who does a lot of the cooking. Things have been busy for the duo ever since opening in the location of the former Pico’s Tacos.

Maria’s Café Bistro can be found on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/gmailmariascafebistro, where the Cabrera’s advertise daily specials.

Maria’s is open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. daily.
