Spring Valley holds lottery for crowded mayoral race

Spring Valley held its election lottery this morning to determine the ballot order of their five candidates for the position of mayor.

The lottery was held early Monday morning. The ballot order shall proceed as follows:

Melanie Malooley Thompson will appear first, Edward Jauch will appear second, Frederick ‘Frank’ West will appear third, Mark Venegas will appear fourth and John French will appear fifth, as the lone candidate to not take part in the lottery.

This highly contested race will take part without an incumbent, as current Mayor Walt Marini plans to retire from the position.

Other positions up for election in the town include City Clerk, City Treasurer, Second Ward Alderman and Third Ward Alderman.
