Interested in a job helping people get a fresh start? The Illinois Valley Public Action to Deliver Shelter still is looking to replace staff that left prior to the holidays.
Carol Alcorn, executive director of PADS, said she’s filled some of the posts vacated late last year thanks to soaring COVID-19 infections, but there still are three paid staff positions she needs to fill.
Alcorn said the COVID-19 pandemic prompted several staff members to step away in late November/early December. The resulting staff shortage led PADS to close its Ottawa shelter and place all the clients in the larger Peru shelter.
“We are still working on filling those positions,” Alcorn said, “because we still don’t have enough people to provide 24-hour staffing in two facilities.”
Alcorn noted PADS also is grappling with the tight labor market affecting all employers.
Masks are not being worn in the facility. That said, interested candidates should be aware while infection controls are being loosened across the state and nation, PADS necessarily continues testing and screening for COVID-19. Alternative housing is being used for those who are positive.
