Fieldcrest senior Mason Stoeger ran the 2.95-mile course in 15:21.2 to cruise to victory in the Columbus Day Invitational on Monday at Shady Oaks Country Club in Amboy.
Stoeger beat Elmwood’s Thomas Harmon by 26 seconds to win the 166-runner invite.
Host Amboy-LaMoille-Ohio won the title with 93 points behind top 10 finishes by Brock Loftus (fourth, 15:58), Ian Eller (eighth, 16:44) and Kyler McNinch (10th, 16:51).
Mendota (358) placed 15th in the 21-team field.
Bureau Valley’s Elijah House placed 20th in 17:07, while Anthony Kelson led the Trojans by finishing 32nd in 17:27.
In the girls race, Amboy’s Lauren Althaus was the top local finisher as she placed 42nd in 20:57.
Bureau Valley’s Amalie Graversgaard placed 90 in 22:53, while Fieldcrest’s Claire Phillips was 101 in 23:26.
Winnebago won the team title with 50 points, while Amboy (400) was 16th and Fieldcrest (506) was 18th in the 23-team field.
