Illinois Valley YMCA receives $50,000 donation from Miller Group Charitable Trust

Miller family’s philanthropic legacy includes millions of dollars given to Peru Y

A recent $50,000 donation from the Miller Group Charitable Trust to the Illinois Valley YMCA in Peru is paving the way for more Y improvements and offerings.

The Illinois Valley Y has received several million dollars in past donations from the Miller Group Charitable Trust. The funds have helped fulfill previous capital expansion projects, such as the Miller Building for Physical and Aquatic Therapy. The donations also are used to provide scholarships.

“The Miller Legacy continues making our YMCA one of the finest in the Midwest,” Illinois Valley Y CEO David Potthoff said in a news release.

The Miller family — Peter Jr., Pete III, Cathy and Joyce — were involved in the YMCA and cared greatly about the communities served, according to a news release from the Y.

“Their involvement and charitable contributions have made a positive impact on many lives,” Potthoff said.
