11-year-old boy charged in Peru splash pad vandalism report

Police chief says youth not believed to be responsible for other vandalism in Washington Park

A 11-year-old boy was charged with criminal damage to property for vandalism reported at 5:27 p.m. Monday at Peru’s splash pad, Peru police said.

Peru Police Chief Robert Pyszka said investigators, acting on a tip from a neighbor, determined the youth threw a picture frame to the ground, damaging it. Pyszka, who thanked the witness for solving the case, said the boy is not believed to be responsible for a rash of vandal acts at nearby Washington Park.
