Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra announces winners of 2022 Young Performers Competition

Winners will perform with IVSO on March 13

The Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra announced the winners of the 2022 Young Performers Competition conducted Feb. 5 at La Salle-Peru High School.

Madison Vescogni, a junior at La Salle-Peru High School, was the winner of the senior division, with her flute, Quantz - Concerto in G Major, mvt 1 performance. She is a a student of Sue Gillio.

Emily Kmetz, a sophomore at La Salle-Peru High School was the runner-up, with a performance in voice, Purcell’s “When I am laid in Earth.” Kmetz is the student of Jenilyn Roether.

Ava Rosengren, a freshman at Serena High School, was the winner of the junior division, with her flute, Faure’ Fantasie, Op. 79, mvt 1 performance. She is the student of Sue Gillio.

Gabby Mosley, of Peru, a sophomore at La Salle-Peru High School, was named honorable mention in the senior division, performing on the flute, Stamitz – Concerto in G Major, OP. 29, mvt. She is the student of of Sue Gillio.

Jadyne Leone, of Spring Valley and a sixth grader at Peru Catholic, was named honorable mention in the junior division for voice, performing Bach/Gounod Ave Maria. She is the student of Jenilyn Roether.

Winners in both divisions will be featured soloists with the Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, March 13, at 3:00 pm at the La Salle-Peru High School Matthiessen Auditorium. Sponsors for the March 13 concert are season sponsors Ottawa Radio and concert sponsor Miller Group Charitable Trust.

The runners-up and honorable mentions will be featured in an honor recital this month at Westclox Fine Arts Factory, 408 Fifth St.
